New Law Prohibits Discrimination for Employer- Sponsored Religious or Political Meetings
By Sally Piefer Effective May 27, 2010, Wisconsin law prohibits employers from discriminating against or discharging employees who choose not to attend company meetings designed to discuss religious or political issues. The new law also prohibits employers from threatening to discharge or otherwise discriminating against employees as a means of inducing employees to attend company-sponsored meetings or participate in communications where the primary purpose is to communicate the opinion of the employer about religious or political matters.
