Milwaukee’s Sick Leave Ordinance Developments
By Sally Piefer Milwaukee’s Sick Leave Ordinance Developments
Employer hopes that the sick leave ordinance would not become a reality on February 10, 2009 took a turn for the worst earlier this week. The Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) filed a Notice of Claim with the City of Milwaukee challenging the Ordinance late last year. The City ultimately rejected the Notice of Claim, which paved the way for the MMAC to pursue a lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed on December 22, 2009. An injunction hearing to prevent the Ordinance from becoming effective on February 10, 2009 was originally scheduled for January 29, 2009.
