Federal Contractors E-Verify Requirement also Delayed
By Sally Piefer The regulations implementing the E-verify regulations - requiring federal contractors to use the system to verify employment eligibility of new employees and all employees who are assigned to work on government projects within the United States - have been postponed. The regulations were supposed to begin on February 20, 2009, but have been delayed to May 21, 2009. We understand the delay occurred to permit President Obama's administration time to review the regulations in response to a lawsuit. Further details will be provided as they become available.
