Proposed GINA Rules Released by EEOC
By Sally Piefer On March 2, 2009, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) released proposed rules on the federal Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA). GINA, which became law on November 21, 2008, prohibits employers with 15 or more employees from discriminating against applicants or employees based on genetic information. The proposed rules can be accessed at the Federal Register.
Comments on the proposed rules will be accepted until May 1, 2009.
